Solar Install Helper/ Electrician Apprentice

Responsibilities – Job Summary
Solar Installers are the backbone of our installation team. They make up the crews that build our high-quality solar PV systems across the DMV area. The Solar Installer Helper is responsible for supporting the crew in all aspects of solar construction, including safety setup, material loading, racking & module installation, conduit, wiring, and occasional groundwork.
Activity – Primary Duties
Time Allocation: 100%
- Attend safety meetings and abide by all government and company safety regulations
- Inspect safety equipment daily; report any defects to Supervisor immediately
- Maintain all company-issued equipment in good working condition
- Maintain professionalism at all times
- Fill out daily report of activities
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Install racking system per manufacturer’s specifications and SES plans on a variety of roof types
- Install DC and AC equipment per plans, local codes, and SES best practices
- Bend conduit and manage wiring in a neat manner
- Test system components while system is operational
- Help maintain clean, organized jobsite and work truck
- Assist with other duties as assigned by Crew Leader and/or Operations Manager
Qualifications
- Must be able to work in the US
- Must pass pre-employment background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean MVR to operate company vehicles
- OSHA 10 (preferred)
Skill Requirements
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations
- Knowledge of residential or commercial PV design and components
- Knowledge of basic trades
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring schematics, and electrical instructions
- Ability to make field changes and communicate issues with Crew Leader
- Ability to receive and distribute instructions
- Ability to drive a work truck safely in high-traffic conditions
Physical Requirements
- Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects
- Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects
- Lift 50–75 lbs. routinely
- Withstand heights, be on roofs, climb ladders
- Work outdoors in cold, hot, wet, and dry conditions
- Move two or more limbs together (e.g., two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place
- Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm
- Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired
- Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls
- See details of objects that are less than a few feet away
- See details of objects that are more than a few feet away
- Use muscles for extended periods without getting tired
- Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath
- Bend, stretch, twist, climb, crouch, or reach out
- Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects
- Adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects
- Understand the speech of another person
- Speak clearly so listeners can understand
- Determine the distance between objects
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation based on experience: $19–$24/hour with potential for overtime
