Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Management Team in managing a wide range of solar PV projects, including roof mounts, ground mounts, battery storage, and new construction projects. They are responsible for moving projects from point of sale to final close-out, including planning, safety, schedule, quality, and client interactions.
The APM is responsible for successfully executing the day-to-day affairs of their projects in terms of construction, documentation, and close-out, and directs project team resources including Design Specialists, Permit Specialists, Warehouse personnel, Crew Leaders, Electricians, and Installers.
They work closely with the Operations team to follow project timelines while coordinating engineering, procurement, preconstruction planning, subcontractor coordination, and DC and AC installations. This position reports to the Director of Construction and is an in-person role.
Core Project Tasks
- Attend and contribute to safety meetings
- Review scope and details of incoming contracts and customize project tasks
- Manage project documentation according to company processes
- Schedule site visits with customers and design resources
- Review project designs at each design stage and identify scope changes
- Facilitate change order processes when necessary
- Monitor project progress throughout the project lifecycle
- Plan safety measures, material loading, access, timelines, and construction activities
- Facilitate weekly residential installation planning meetings
- Maintain complete project records, photos, and documentation
- Participate in installation scheduling
- Provide regular status updates to customers and manage expectations
- Ensure project materials are ordered, received, and prepared for mobilization
- Prepare Crew Leaders and Electricians for DC and AC installations
- Monitor construction progress daily
- Answer field questions and escalate issues when appropriate
- Manage project tasking in company software
- Attend inspections as needed
- Review commissioning documentation for completion
- Prepare owner manuals and closeout documentation
- Ensure system operation and troubleshoot as necessary
- Conduct remote or in-person customer walkthroughs
- Review project expenses for accuracy
Qualifications
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Valid driverâs license with a clean motor vehicle record
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
Skills, Experience & Certifications
- Demonstrated experience in the construction industry
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and productivity software
- Knowledge of residential or commercial PV design and components
- NABCEP PVIP certification (increases compensation)
- PMP certification (increases compensation)

Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000â$70,000 annual salary
